Stand-Down Policy

This Stand-Down Policy is intended to support a fair and transparent affiliate ecosystem by preventing Software-based Publishers from diverting, overriding, or otherwise interfering with traffic that has already been referred by another affiliate source.

This policy applies to all Software-based Publishers (or "Publishers"), including browser extensions, downloadable software applications (“DSAs”), mobile apps, and affiliate marketing tools that interact with users during their shopping experience by offering cashback, coupons, discounts, rewards, redirects, pop-ups, or other promotional incentives.

Publishers must detect and respond appropriately when a user has already been referred by another affiliate source. The stand-down signal is represented by the presence of the dub_id cookie:

dub_id='xxxxxxxxxxxxxx'

If the dub_id cookie is present, Publishers must honor the stand-down requirement.

When Publishers detect the stand-down signal, indicating previous partner attribution, they must:

  1. Stop all promotional messaging, such as banners, notifications, pop-ups, or similar prompts encouraging the user to activate cashback, coupons, rewards, or other affiliate offers.
  2. Avoid overwriting cookies that can interfere with the existing affiliate source.

Publishers must not use any workaround intended to avoid, conceal, ignore, or circumvent the Stand-Down Signal.

The stand-down period shall continue for the duration of the user’s browser session or for a minimum of 60 minutes after the initial referral, whichever is longer.

All Software-based Publisher technology must be installed and used only with the end user’s consent. Any tracking or rewards functionality must be initiated through a clear affirmative action, such as a click, and may not be triggered automatically. Automatic redirects are not permitted.

Consumers must have a simple way to fully uninstall Software-based Publisher technology from their browser and/or operating system. Following uninstallation, the software must immediately stop all tracking and related activity.

All Software-based Publishers are subject to prior review and approval by the Dub legal team. Software-based Publishers may not use technology that interacts with users during their shopping experience without Dub’s prior written approval.

If Publishers fail to comply with the stand-down policy, Dub will take the following action(s):

  • Removal from advertiser programs: Dub may remove the applicable Software-based Publisher from one or more brand programs;
  • Suspension or termination: Dub may suspend or terminate the publisher’s access to the platform in cases of repeated, material, or egregious noncompliance;
  • Forfeiture of compensation: Dub may withhold, reverse, or deny commissions or other compensation arising from non-compliant activity.

Software-based Publishers are responsible for regularly auditing and monitoring their technology and practices for continued compliance with this policy.

We may revise this Agreement from time to time and will post the updated version with a “last updated” date on our website or partner dashboard. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
